Grad students are allowed to bring 3 guests that are not grad students. Guests under 21 are allowed, but they will be stamped with an under 21 stamp and will not be allowed to drink alcholic beverages. Do I have to bring a date? NO. I have no date. Many people will be going stag. All the better for meeting fellow grad students at the dance. Is there a theme? Type of music? What should I wear? The idea behind this is to embrace the awkwardness that existed in middle school and exists now in grad school. Some schools put on serious grad formals that cost a lot of money--we're poking a bit of fun in that direction, but still looking to have a very good time. Many grad students don't know others outside of their dept. Here is a chance to socialize with others. Music will simply be good. Wear what you would like, but I suggest doing it up a bit. Embrace.
